His Kids Choir
“His Kids” is a children’s choir composed of
small children ages 3 through the first grade. Presently, they are
meeting during the first 15 minutes of the Sunday school hour,
9:45-10:00 am in the kindergarten classroom located in the education
wing. Led by Jennifer Black, this choir sometimes presents special
music during the morning worship service and even joins the older
choirs on occasion. If you have questions regarding the His Kids

Junior
Choir
The Junior Choir is composed of 2nd
through 5th grade children. Led by Bonnie Miller and
Bryan Fountain, the Junior Choir presents a Christmas musical as
well as a spring musical each year. The directors
warmly welcome any interested children and youth. Their rehearsals
are from 5:00 – 6:00 pm each Sunday in the choir room, which is
located on the second floor of the main building. For further

Special
Events for Children
“Saturday’s Kids” meets once a quarter for fun
and fellowship. From going fishing and picnicking at Spring Lake
Park to taking a field trip through the main fire station in
downtown Texarkana, these kiddoes enjoy fun times together. For

Nursery
We are very proud of our nursery and the
nursery workers. Hardy boasts a staff of nursery workers whose
combined experience totals over 40 years. Parents of infants
through age one feel comfortable leaving their babies with competent
workers, making it possible for them to enjoy a worship-filled
experience at Hardy. Nursery workers include Mrs. Jean Godfrey,
Mrs. Jo Ann Swanger, and Ms. Jill Black. From the moment the little
ones enter the nursery, it is obvious that they are loved, and the
children love them. Printed guidelines are available for parents,
and beepers are also made available in order for the parents to feel
comfortable leaving their small children. Located in the education
wing of the main building, the nursery is quite accessible. By
exiting the right door of the sanctuary from the front of the
church, you will go past the church office, through a door and find
the nursery immediately to your left, or you may enter through the
west end door of the education wing.
Sunday School
The two and three-year-olds meet in a
large, spacious area which is a part of the nursery complex. The
room is colorful and inviting for children of these ages. The
leader is Mrs. Sue Jones.
Live B.I.G.
This is our second year to use this innovative
new children’s curriculum. Our children absolutely love “Live B.I.G”
which is based on the scripture from John 14:1: “Believe in God.
Believe also in me.” This curriculum has made the Bible come alive
for our children. They now know that God’s word is for them.”
We’ve spent a couple of years moving from one curriculum to another
trying to find the right fit for our church. The teachers and
children look forward to the lessons, and the kid’s books are fun
for the children. The music and videos are uplifting and serve as a
great precursor to the lesson’s message. We invite your children to
join us as we LIVE B.I.G.!
Four and five-year-olds meet across the
hall from the nursery complex in the education wing of the main
building. Both Pat Reynolds and Dianne Bagley have taught this age
group for over 25 years. Hardy children, both young and old, know
and love Ms. Pat and Ms. Dianne. The children look forward to the
two years they have the opportunity to enjoy their love and
guidance.
Both Elementary I-III and Elementary IV-V meet
upstairs in the education wing of the main building. Elementary
I-III is led by Mrs. Sara Weber, and included in this class is
not only a wonderful opportunity to learn about the Bible and its
truths through the Live B.I.G. curriculum, but this class is also
where students have an opportunity to train to be acolytes in the
morning worship service.
Elementary IV-V meets next door under
the leadership of Mrs. Bonnie Miller who is an icon in our
children’s department. Ms. Bonnie, as she is affectionately called,
has taught this age level for over 20 years. If anyone can make the
Bible come alive for the children, Ms. Bonnie can!
Children's Sermon
during Worship
Each Sunday morning, eyes light up and feet
begin to jiggle as the children are offered the opportunity to “Come
forward for the Children’s Sermon with Ms. Bonnie.” Bonnie Miller
is a master story teller and is able to relate the truths of the
Bible in language that both the young children who sit at her feet
can relate to as well as to the “older children,” the adults who sit
in the pews. The entire congregation is able to glean bits of
truths from Bonnie’s parable-style sermons which are directed to the
children but appreciated by all.

We invite all children to attend Hardy’s
Children’s Church each Sunday morning during the morning worship
hour. Following the children’s sermon in the sanctuary, adult
leaders guide the children to worship together in Children’s Church
which is located on the first floor of the Sunday school education
wing. On Communion Sundays, the children are welcome to spend the
entire worship hour in Children’s Church. Due to the curriculum,
the recommended ages are 3 years old through the second grade.
